If you’d have asked me this time last year what I’d be doing in 2025, I could never have imagined it’d be working in the NHS! It wasn’t something I ever thought I could achieve. With support from The King’s Trust and support from all the individuals on the programmes and work experiences I completed, my confidence and employment skills increased. I’m now working as an administrator in the NHS. It’s a great job, which will enable me to progress into a career within the sector. I am so much happier now!

“Before The King’s Trust I couldn’t see a future for myself, but now I’m in a job I love, working as a Healthcare Assistant at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. In the future, I am looking to attend university and study Mental Health Nursing as my ambition is to work in my dream job as a mental health nurse.”

My sister told me about The King’s Trust and specifically, their Get into Health and Social Care programme. I looked for more information on the website and ticked all the criteria I needed to sign up to a programme. I felt so hopeful as this was an opportunity for me to go further, and would take me closer to fulfilling my dream of working in the sector. I am grateful towards The King’s Trust as without them, I wouldn’t be able to fulfil 10-year-old Asia’s dreams.

Working in the NHS has changed my life for the better – it’s improved my mental health, my drive, my ambition and my hope. I am now stronger. I have a future and I am sure my children's lives will be more secure too.

“My mentor helped me understand all the different departments and provided me with confidence to learn from so many people. Without the King’s Trust I’m not sure where I would be. This programme is an amazing opportunity that helps to build a bridge between the employer and the candidates.”

When I was little, I would watch shows and saw how the ambulance service rescued people, and I wished that someone would rescue and save me. But I grew up and became an ambulance worker and I rescued myself.
