This course will prepare you to apply for the role of Health Advisor, otherwise known as a 999 or 111 call handler.

By attending this course, you will gain:

  • Interview tips and support, helping you grow in confidence and prepare for job-specific questions.

  • Application support and assessment preparation, ensuring you know everything you need to about the role and the companies that you will apply to.

  • Q&A sessions with North East Ambulance Service, where you can ask and learn about the session.

To attend this course:

  • You must have the Right to Work in the UK (NO Visa sponsorship available).

  • You must be based in Newcastle or surrounding areas.

  • You must have at least 3 GCSE's at grade 4 (C-equivalent) including English (or any equivalent).

  • You must have a willingness to learn, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

  • You must be able to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays depending on the rota.

You can access:

  • One-to-one support as you apply for jobs and get ready for your interview

  • One-to-one support after your interview, including during your first few months of work

Being a Health Advisor is challenging but rewarding as you can directly help those most in need. You will work as part of a close-knit team of people who have a passion for helping those in crisis, where no two days are the same.

You don’t need any medical knowledge, and full training in managing calls and use of our systems will be provided. You will be the first point of contact with patients, providing advice and health information to support callers to access the appropriate level of care.
